SOFTWARE DEVELOPER WITH PLC EXPERIENCE - FREEMELT
Freemelt makes a difference with groundbreaking technology for metal 3D printing. Our products have the potential to revolutionize the manufacturing industry with 3D printers, which will create new materials and solutions. We embrace open-source, and most of our code can be found on Gitlab.
We are growing fast and now have more than 35 employees. We have gone from a start-up to a scale-up company where you have great opportunities to influence development in the future.
We create 3D-printers that enable more efficient and sustainable manufacturing, in other words, greener. 3D-printing will be an enabler for the energy transition, and fusion is one of our main markets.
We have a 3D printer that melts metal powder to create parts using an electron beam, and your responsibility will be at the boundary between the computer and the hardware. Most of the control and logic are executed in the computer with a PLC as an interface to the hardware, thus, having one foot in both domains is a requirement. Python will be the more significant part of the work, but the PLC programming will be substantial. Error and exception handling from hardware will be a large part of your work, particularly the development of troubleshooting tools that help operators keep the printer running smoothly.
Most of the work you will do will be in the software realm, but you will also work closer to the hardware on the PLC-side. Thus, you will also work closely with our hardware team.
You will report to the Head of Product Management, but we work in non-hierarchical and autonomous teams.
